This opportunity allows you to leverage your ongoing hands-on expertise to coach and mentor emerging agripreneurs in priority value chains, with scheduling that accommodates your existing professional commitments.
Position Overview
- Employment Type: Strictly part-time and performance-linked
- Time Commitment: Highly flexible; planned around your availability and the needs of coached entrepreneurs
- Remuneration: Performance-linked based on achievement of predefined KPIs
- Core Focus: Practical, hands-on coaching in business planning, market linkages, revenue strategies, technology innovation, and management practices
- Geographic Scope: Open to applicants from all 47 counties in Kenya, with coaching activities targeted at value chains and regions
- Priority Value Chains: Coaching will focus on key agribusiness value chains including dairy, poultry, red meat, fruits (banana, mango, avocado), vegetables (tomato, Irish potato, local varieties), coffee, cotton, cashew nut, apiculture, pyrethrum, sorghum, beans, sim-sim (sesame), groundnuts, green grams, sunflower, rice, watermelon, fish, and leather products. Applicants should indicate expertise in one or more of these chains.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized, value chain-specific coaching in the following niche areas: business development and entrepreneurship; strategic planning and marketing; agricultural techniques and innovation; community mobilization and leadership; resilience-enhanced practices (climate-smart agriculture, disaster preparedness, sustainable resource management).
- Conduct group training sessions and individual one-on-one mentoring to support entrepreneur progress.
- Monitor and report performance through the digital Program Management System, contributing directly to programme KPIs.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Agribusiness, Business Management,Sociology, Anthropology, Marketing, Rural Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in value chain business development, sales, marketing, agricultural extension, or related areas.
- Proven track record in community leadership or coaching.
- Preference given to candidates who are currently working in agribusiness or closely related fields (e.g., agribusiness operations, agricultural extension, community mobilization, business development, strategic planning, marketing, agricultural techniques, or resilience-enhanced practices).
- Applicants must demonstrate relevant hands-on expertise through current or recent professional roles and be able to flexibly integrate coaching sessions into their existing schedules.
